Returning to our Essence: Evolving our Agreements

We don’t have to look far to find very real challenges related to our social agreements around gender. Traditional agreements seem to be shifting. Where we once ascribed the exterior, public, commercial world to men, and the interior, personal, family home world to women, we are now seeking a more integrated experience of both for both male and female. Our challenge is to each find our own sense of balance, wellbeing and creativity in this changing environment.

If, in this changing social climate, we feel frustrated with others who seem to be holding us back, or holding power over us because of our gender, or asking us to fulfill contradictory expectations about what a man or a woman should do, or not fulfilling our own gender-related expectations of support, protection, etc., we can remember what don Juan told Carlos Castaneda — our battle is not with our fellow human beings. Rather, it is in our encounter with infinity—and it’s ultimately not a battle, rather it’s an acquiescence to a deeper order of things—one that moves beyond our social agreements, to our true essence as creative beings, sparks of infinite intelligence, capable of bringing “dream” into “reality.”

The word “agreement” in Italian—accordo—contains the Latin root “cor,” “heart.” So accordo means being of one heart–finding a single harmonic vibration that resounds from heart to heart. So, if you want to get past limiting social agreements, rather than looking to correct or change others, look inside your own heart—and your own being. Are your heart, your head, your body, your spirit–all your fields of being– in accordance with your decisions and actions?

What are the true agreements with which your total being is in accordance? Find out what those are, make your contract with Spirit, and then put your life force behind those agreements—with your daily actions, thoughts, feelings, and words.

We can be guided by what don Juan told his students: At the level of energy that flows in the universe–Nobody is really stopping us from our completeness. Nobody is doing anything to anybody. We are the ones who repeat the stories of limitation to ourselves, creating a fog that makes them seem insurmountable, and the only possible reality.

In this workshop, with women in the company of women, and men in the company of men, as well as with both genders together, we will play out and evolve some of our defining scenes related to gender roles via Theater of Infinity. We will support this effort by practicing the contemporary version of the Source Form, an ancient series of magical passes designed to help us release any battle with others, or with ourselves, and instead harmonize our fields of being, and our inner masculine and feminine so that we might recognize the creative Source within us.
