Italian Torrone, Do It Yourself!
To make this traditional Italian dessert you'll need 500g of peeled almonds and nuts, 200g of honey, 200 g of sugar, the grated rind of 2 lemons and 1 orange, 2 egg whites, vanilla aroma.
Roast the almonds and the nuts in the oven for 10 minutes at 180°C. Soften the honey in a pan, stirring it constantly and taking care not to let it burn.
Put the sugar in a pan with some water and stir until caramelised. Whisk the egg whites until firm and add them to the honey. Add the remaining ingredients keeping the pan on the fire, for at least another 5 minutes. Stir slowly to allow the mix to solidify.
