The way you mix your food can have an impact on the quantity of nutrients your body can absorb.

For example foods rich in carotenoids can be helped with their absorption by some fat. Tomatoes and olive oli are a perfect match, while pepper increases the quantity of curcumin your body can get from turmeric.

Vitamin D is present in salmon, and can help the absorption of calcium found in dairy products. This is why salmon with crème fraiche can be a good idea.

Used to make serotonin and melatonin in the brain, milk contains the amino acid tryptophan.

Carbohydrates like those found in honey assist in the absorption of tryptophan as the release of insulin lessens the competition from other amino acids.

Green tea, packed as it is with rich sources of antioxidants, can benefit from lemon juice if you want your body to use the most of the antioxidants.
