Softening The Edge Of Migraine

Debilitating and depressing, migraines aren't just headaches. Researchers at Medical News Today claim that 18 per cent of women will suffer from them at some point, triggered by both biological factors (fluctuating hormones) and psychosocial ones (stress, lack of sleep), often around their reproductive age.

Painkillers are often a necessary choice, but there are other factors at work.

If you are a migraine sufferer, try not to indulge too often in alcohol. A notorious trigger, alcohol is the first thing to get rid of. Plenty of coffee instead: Various medical studies have shown a link between caffeine and headache relief. Before a headache, blood vessels tend to enlarge, and coffee contains properties that restrict blood flow. Too much will leave you jumpy, spoiling the opportunity of a restful night of much-needed sleep. Find the right balance that works for you.

Taking melatonin and magnesium before bed is another good idea. Melatonin, a hormone produced in the brain's pineal gland, helps to regulate sleep. An imbalance has been linked to migraines, while low levels of magnesium are often found in sufferers. Early research shows that some people have reduced symptoms when taking them.

Steer away from chocolate and sugary snacks. “Fake” sugars are another well-known trigger of migraine. You may soften the symptoms, while giving your organism some respite.

Finally, rub some lavender oil on your temples. Also chamomile and peppermint oil will give you some relief.
