The Athlete's Happiness
It can be the freshness of a quiet room dipped in half darkness, where the noise of the daily activities slowly subsides. The asanas, rolling one after the other while we plunge into consciousness and find ourselves at the bottom, once again.
It can be the wild joy of heading toward a maze of urban streets under the rain, splashing in the pools with childlike satisfaction, dodging people with swift movements, feeling your body responding to your command, sweat finally flooding your skin after a day of constraint.
Or, again, the entire world finding unity in a dance step flowing from a beat, when music joins the deepest fibres of your body in beauty and harmony.
Or being a team on a playing field, to feel the grass under your feet, the inciting shouts, the tension building up in the body towards a common goal. Celebration, defeat - both shared in the changing room.
There is no doubt that physical exercise in all its forms makes happy.
Not immediately though. There is the stage of laziness, the lack of stamina. Training is something to be conquered. But as those who run regularly know very well, for example, that regular appointment soon becomes a necessity and a resource for your life. An effective way to let off steam, a dose of happiness there for you, any time. Something you wouldn't give up, no matter what - and why should you?
