Barefoot Running

It all started in 2009, when "Born to Run" was published. The two men behind the book were Christopher McDougall, journalist, and his coach Eric Orton. They had the possibility to run alongside the Tarahumara tribe in Mexico, known for its extraordinary endurance - they can run 100 miles (160 km) just strapping some old scrap of tyre to their feet. Since then the idea of running with little if anything on your feet has developed and reached more and more people. Now it is an established practice in the USA.
It's actually about dreaming without fear, says Orton. Because running with your feet touching and caressing the ground is much more than an exercise. It is a deep way to develop your character and your personal philosophy. Because surely to run a hundred mile with a bunch of people while kicking an old tennis ball back and forth from one person to another just for the fun of it must be an extraordinary way to approach life.
