"With The Bible and The Gun"
It is hard to believe, but a Baptist Church in New York is planning to give away a rifle to one of the churchgoers at one of the upcoming services.
Asked about the motivation of his astonishing idea of proselitism, Pastor John Koletas argued that America "was built with the King James Bible and the gun" in a letter addressed to his congregation.
The winner of the raffle will get an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle. In a flier published by the church, "Does the Bible defend my right to keep and bear arms?" Pastor Koletas defends the issue. In an interview given to The Times Union he said: "I'm just trying to be a blessing and a help to the gun owners and the hunters and give away a free AR-15. It's the right thing to do.”
Pastor Koletas is hoping the community will turn out in force to support gun owners. God knows what all this has to do with the message of Christianity.
