Anxiety? Try Tapping
Anxiety disorder can feel like a minefield when it comes to tackling its symptoms.
However, multiple studies have found that a simple finger tapping technique inspired by traditional Chinese medicine can be effective for managing anxiety symptoms.
The method takes a matter of minutes and involves using the tip of the index and middle fingers to tap on nine specific acupuncture points on the body: eyebrow, side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, chin, beginning of the collarbone, under the arm, top of the head.
While this may not work for everybody, a study in 2019 found significant reductions in symptoms of depression, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety following this technique.
In 2021, another study found that a single online group session of this technique reduced stress, anxiety and burnout levels in nurses treating Covid-19.
